Welcome to Tucson Area Chapter of Arizona Education Association Retired
Local Chapter of AEA Retired
The Tucson chapter is a local chapter of your professional organization, AEA Retired. The Tucson Area chapter (including Oracle, and Marana) members meet 4 times each year to have lunch, socialize with other education retirees. We often have guest speakers who update us about important issues that impact retirees. Like AEA Retired, we keep ourselves updated about ASRS, Health Care, our retirement benefits, and of course education issues in Arizona today. Linda Somo is the president of AEA Retired. We send to you, 5 times a year, the print publication,The Conduit.

AEA-Retired is a statewide local of AEA. After working hard to help educate Arizona's children, most education retirees wish to remain connected to their professional organization. In this way we can continue our efforts to support the goals of the Arizona Education Association. We also have a wonderful ability to depend on AEA to support us with our goals both at the state legislature and with ASRS. We partner with AEA in several grants, including the Arizona Intergenerational Mentoring Project (AZ IMPACT), Outreach to members, and others. AEA sends to you, a print publication, AEA Advocate.
We are an affiliate of NEA and NEA Retired. Our own Tucson chapter AEA Retired member, Barbara Matteson, is the President of NEA Retired. We have Arizona members, including John Campbell and Linda Somo who serve on the NEA Board of Directors. NEA Retired sends you a print publication called "This Active Life" which often features our own AEA Retired members. It comes every other month, and spotlights retirees and their passions, highlights upcoming events, and raises issues of particular interest to retired members. You will also continue to receive the NEA publication, NEA Today, which comes 6 times a year.
